FILA and the Mexico Tourism Board to host fashion shows

The Sony Ericsson Open is known around the world for its great tennis, but the excitement and innovation that the tournament brings to fans is not limited to the court. For the fifth consecutive year, the Sony Ericsson Open will bring fashion to the tennis fans. This year’s shows will feature fashions from FILA, the official tournament apparel on Thursday, April 2, and Mexican designers Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin on Wednesday, April 1.

Hosted by tennis great Mary Jo Fernandez, the Mexican Tourism Board will present fashions by Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin. The Mexican designers will introduce a unique line inspired by pre-Columbian art and designs with pieces from their Spring and Summer 2009 collections. The fashion show will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Then on Thursday, Fila, the official apparel sponsor, of the Sony Ericsson Open, will feature the latest styles from the Italian athletic brand’s Spring 2009 Collection. Fans will get a sneak peek at the brand’s fall line. Fila apparel and footwear complement an active lifestyle, from tennis to fitness to lifestyle. Tennis legend and ESPN commentator Cliff Drysdale will host the runway show beginning at 6:00 p.m.
