Press Room
ABOUT THE SONY ERICSSON OPEN: The 2009 Sony Ericsson Open was covered by over 600 credentialed media from 36 countries. Both the men’s and women’s finals were broadcast on CBS. CBS has a long term contract with the tournament to showcase the finals through 2011. The tournament received over 2000 hours of television coverage globally on other networks.
Through a partnership with the Miami Herald, the Sony Ericsson Open produces The Daily. The publication is distributed with Miami Herald newspapers throughout parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties on the tournament’s opening day as a 12-page tournament preview special section. Every morning thereafter, an eight-page daily which contains features, the day’s schedules and an updated draw sheet is distributed and sold on the tournament grounds.
ATTENTION MEDIA: The correct and proper name of the tournament for both the men’s and women’s events is the Sony Ericsson Open. The use of any other name when referring to the Sony Ericsson Open is inaccurate. Please alert your editors to the use of the proper tournament name. Thank you.
