Women's Main Draw Play To Start On Tuesday, March 23

The 2010 Sony Ericsson Open announced that a limited number women’s main draw first round matches will be played on Tuesday, March 23 rather than the traditional Wednesday start.

The select first round matches will be played on Grandstand Court, Court 1 and Court 2 allowing tournament guests to get close to the action. No matches will be scheduled for Stadium Court.

In addition, the Tuesday start means that women’s seeded players will begin play on Thursday, March 25 which will allow for an extra rest day prior to the quarterfinals. In the past seeded players did not begin play until Friday.

Men’s first round play will begin on Wednesday, March 24.
