With the win, Djokovic becomes the first Serbian to win a Grand Slam singles title.

His straight set victories also included wins over No. 19 seed Leyton Hewitt in the fourth round and fifth-seeded David Ferrer in the quarterfinals.
Djokovic has now compiled eight-career ATP titles, five last season including his first Master’s Series title at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
The win makes Djokovic the first player other than Federer or Rafael Nadal to win a Grand Slam title since Marat Safin defeated Leyton Hewitt in the 2005 Australian Open final.
Additionally, the 20-year old Belgrade native becomes the fourth youngest Australian Open champion in the Open era and the ninth youngest man to reach four or more consecutive Grand Slam semifinals.
